The experience

Dubai in detail

Quick answer

A holiday to Dubai costs from £1,749 per person, based on two people sharing. That covers 10 or 12 nights and return flights from London. October 2026 is the cheapest departure currently on sale. Secure it with £99pp and pay the balance nearer the time. Every holiday we sell is ATOL 10713 protected.

What does the Mauritius and Dubai trip include, and what does it cost?

Ten or twelve nights. Six or eight of those nights are at a 4★ resort in Mauritius and three or four at a 4★ city hotel in Dubai, with return flights from London, all connecting flights and private transfers in Mauritius. ATOL protection under licence 10713 applies and a £99 per person deposit holds it. Regional UK departures are available at a supplement. Meals beyond the board basis, tours and travel insurance are not included, and the board arrangement at each hotel is confirmed in writing at enquiry.

Why does this trip put the beach first?

Almost every twin-centre we sell runs city first and beach last, so you fly home rested rather than leaving the quiet half to go sightseeing. This one is deliberately the other way round, and the reason is geography rather than preference.

Dubai sits on the route between Mauritius and the UK. Putting it at the end turns the stopover into part of the journey home instead of a detour on the way out. You are not adding a leg; you are breaking one that you were flying anyway.

Factor Mauritius leg Dubai leg
Nights Six or eight Three or four
What it is for The holiday itself Breaking the journey, and a city
Pace Slow — beach, lagoon, resort Fast — skyline, malls, dining
Transfers Private, included City hotel, short airport run
Best months May and June, its dry winter November to March

The one tension is weather: Mauritius is at its best in May and June, and Dubai is at its best from November to March. June gives you Mauritius at its best and Dubai hot but manageable, which is why June is both the cheapest month here and the one we point people towards.

What you will actually see

In Mauritius, the draw is the lagoon rather than the open sea — the island is ringed by coral reef, which makes the water flat, shallow and extraordinarily clear close to shore. Beyond the resort there is more island than people expect: the coloured earths at Chamarel, the Black River Gorges, Port Louis market, and tea and rum estates inland. Most visitors do one or two days out and spend the rest horizontal, which is a reasonable way to use a week.

In Dubai, three or four nights is enough for the skyline, a desert evening and one proper meal out. The Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and the fountain sit together; the old town at Deira and the creek are the counterweight and are worth half a day. A desert safari is the excursion most people add, and it is genuinely better in the cooler months.

The two halves do not compete. Mauritius is where the holiday happens and Dubai is the punctuation at the end.

Ten nights or twelve?

Ten nights is six in Mauritius and three or four in Dubai. Six nights on a beach after a twelve-hour flight is enough to stop working but not quite enough to forget about it.

Twelve nights is eight and four, and it is the better trip if you can take the leave. The eighth night in Mauritius is the one where the holiday properly lands, and a fourth night in Dubai turns a stopover into a short city break rather than just a night between flights.

What does not work is trimming Dubai to one or two nights. At that point you are paying for a hotel to sleep off a flight, and you would be better off flying straight through.

When is the best time to go?

June is the cheapest month and it is also Mauritius at its best. Mauritius sits in the southern hemisphere, so its dry, mild winter falls across the UK summer — May and June are the months the island is most reliable.

December is the most expensive per person, and it is Mauritius’s wetter, more humid season. Dubai is superb in December, but you are paying peak for the leg that matters least.

Month Notes
June Cheapest, and Mauritius at its best
May, July Mauritius dry season either side of June
September Still dry, quieter
August Dry, windier on the east coast
October, January Shoulder both ends
November, February Warmer and wetter in Mauritius
December Dearest, and Mauritius’s humid season

What changes your price?

  • The month. June at its cheapest against December at its dearest on the same trip. Nothing else moves it as far.
  • Ten nights or twelve. The shorter stay is the cheapest of them; the split between the two stops changes the price as well as the trip.
  • Departure airport. Priced from London, with regional departures at a supplement confirmed at enquiry.
  • Resort and hotel grade. Both legs are 4★ as standard. Upgrades, sea-view categories and different resorts on either coast of Mauritius are quoted individually.
  • Which coast you stay on in Mauritius. North, west and east are different holidays at different prices.

Who this holiday suits

  • Couples and families who want a proper beach fortnight with a city at the end rather than two equal halves.
  • Anyone flying this far who would rather break the journey home than do it in one go.
  • Travellers who want the Indian Ocean but would find a full fortnight in one resort too long.
  • People whose leave falls in the UK summer, because that is Mauritius’s best season and its cheapest here.
  • First-time long-haul twin-centre bookers — the connection is short and the routing is natural.

Who might prefer something else

  • Want Dubai as the main event? This gives it three or four nights. Our Dubai city break or the Dubai and Maldives pairing weight it differently.
  • If you have a week, this does not fit. Ten nights is the floor and twelve is better.
  • If your dates are fixed to December or January, you are paying peak for Mauritius’s least reliable months.
  • For everything paid for up front, an all-inclusive Mauritius week is the simpler product.
  • If moving hotels is the problem, a single-centre Mauritius stay does the beach half without the city.
  • If none of these is quite right, start from our wider selection of multi-centre holidays.
  • Something similar? Our Tokyo & Kyoto Twin-City Experience – 6 or 8 Nights (Japan) is the closest thing we sell to this one.

Ways to upgrade

All quoted at enquiry against your dates.

  • A five-star resort in Mauritius, or a sea-view or suite category
  • A different coast — north for convenience, west for sunsets, east for quiet
  • A longer Dubai leg, or a hotel on the Palm or Jumeirah Beach rather than in the city
  • A desert safari, catamaran day or Chamarel excursion arranged in advance
  • Extra nights at either end
  • Private transfers in Dubai as well as Mauritius

Getting there, and which coast to choose

Flights are from London with the connection through Dubai on the way home built into the booking. Regional UK departures are available at a supplement confirmed at enquiry. Mauritius is four hours ahead of the UK in winter and three during British Summer Time; Dubai is four and three.

Within Mauritius the coast matters more than the star rating. The north around Grand Baie is the busiest and best for eating out. The west has the calmest water and the sunsets. The east is quieter and windier, which suits some people and not others. The south is the wildest and least developed. Private transfers are included, so distance from the airport is not the deciding factor it would otherwise be.

Entry requirements for UK travellers

Checked against GOV.UK foreign travel advice on 17 September 2026. We re-confirm before you travel.

Mauritius: no visa for stays of up to 60 days. Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay and have one blank page, and you will need proof of onward or return travel. The Mauritius All in One travel form must be completed online before you arrive — print the QR code and have it ready at the airport rather than hunting for it on your phone in the queue.

Dubai: a visitor visa is issued free of charge on arrival and stamped into your passport, valid up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after you arrive. There is no arrival form to complete.

Two countries means two sets of rules on one trip, and the Mauritius form is the one people forget.

Booking and protection

Your booking is covered by our ATOL licence 10713 and we hold IATA accreditation 91285611. It is held with a deposit of £99 per person, with the balance due before travel.

Prices are per person, based on two people sharing. Because both legs and the connecting flights sit on one booking, a delay on the Mauritius sector is ours to re-arrange rather than something you negotiate at an airport. June dates go early — they are both the cheapest and the best for weather.

Frequently asked questions

From £1,599 per person for ten or twelve nights, reduced from £2,050, including return flights from London, all connecting flights, both hotels and private transfers in Mauritius. June is the cheapest month and December the dearest. Your exact figure is confirmed at enquiry.

Geography. Dubai sits on the route between Mauritius and the UK, so placing it at the end breaks a flight you were taking anyway rather than adding a detour on the way out. Most of our twin-centres run city first; this one is the exception and the routing is the reason.

Six or eight nights in Mauritius and three or four in Dubai, depending on which of the ten or twelve-night options you take. Twelve is eight and four, which is the better trip — the eighth night in Mauritius is where the holiday properly lands and a fourth in Dubai makes it a city break rather than a layover.

June, which is both the cheapest month per person and Mauritius at its best. Mauritius is in the southern hemisphere, so its dry, mild winter falls across the UK summer. December is the most expensive and is also the island's more humid season.

It works, but twelve is better if you can take the leave. Ten is six nights in Mauritius and three or four in Dubai. Six nights on a beach after a twelve-hour flight is enough to stop working but not quite enough to forget about it. The extra two nights change that.

The coast matters more than the star rating. North around Grand Baie is busiest and best for eating out. The west has the calmest water and the sunsets. The east is quieter and windier. The south is wildest and least developed. Private transfers are included, so distance from the airport need not decide it.

We confirm it in writing before you pay, hotel by hotel, so you know exactly what is covered at mealtimes at each one.

Yes. All connecting flights are part of the same booking as your return flights from London, along with private transfers in Mauritius. That matters practically: if the Mauritius sector moves, re-arranging the Dubai hotel and the onward flight is our job rather than something you sort out at an airport.

No, not for stays of up to 60 days. Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay with one blank page, and you need proof of onward or return travel. The Mauritius All in One travel form must be completed online before arrival — print the QR code for the airport. Checked against GOV.UK on 17 September 2026.

No. A visitor visa is issued free on arrival and stamped into your passport, valid up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid at least six months after you arrive. There is no arrival form. Checked against GOV.UK on 17 September 2026.

An online form completed before you travel, which generates a QR code you present at the airport. If you have not done it in advance you will be asked to fill in an immigration disembarkation card on arrival instead. It is the requirement people most often overlook on this trip, because Dubai needs nothing.

More than people expect. The coloured earths at Chamarel, the Black River Gorges, Port Louis market, and tea and rum estates inland. Most visitors take one or two days out and spend the rest horizontal, which is a perfectly reasonable use of a week on a lagoon that flat and clear.

Enough for the skyline, a desert evening and one proper meal out. The Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and the fountain sit together, and the old town at Deira is worth half a day as a counterweight. A fourth night, on the twelve-night option, turns it into a short city break rather than a stopover.

Most people who add it are glad they did, and it is noticeably better in the cooler months from November to March. It is not included in the package and is arranged either in advance through us or locally. In June or July, an evening in the desert is considerably hotter work.

Yes. Both legs are 4★ as standard and five-star resorts, sea-view rooms and suite categories are all available, quoted individually against your dates rather than sold at a standard supplement. The same applies to moving the Dubai leg to the Palm or Jumeirah Beach.

Mauritius is four hours ahead of the UK in winter and three during British Summer Time. Dubai is the same. That is a mild adjustment for a flight of this length, which is one of the quieter advantages of this routing over a trip east to Asia.

The price is quoted from London. Regional UK departures are available at a supplement that varies by airport, airline and date, so we confirm the exact figure for your dates rather than publish an estimate that may not apply to your routing.

Ninety-nine pounds per person, with the balance due before travel. The holiday is ATOL 10713 protected and we hold IATA accreditation 91285611. Prices are per person, based on two people sharing.

It works well, because the quiet half comes first and lasts longest — six or eight nights on a lagoon, then a few days of city before flying home. Couples who want the reverse, with the city first and a full week of beach to finish, usually prefer our Dubai and Maldives pairing.

Yes. The reef makes the water flat and shallow close to shore, which is the single most useful thing about the island with younger children. The flight is long, so twelve nights suits families better than ten, and the Dubai leg at the end breaks the journey home.

You can, and we will price it, but it works less well. Dubai is on the way home rather than on the way out, so putting it first means flying past it and doubling back. The routing costs more and you spend the last week travelling rather than resting.

Early for June, because it is both the cheapest month per person and the best of the year for Mauritian weather, so those dates sell first. Two flight sectors have to line up rather than one, which tightens availability sooner than on a single-destination holiday.
