The experience

Thailand in detail

Quick answer

A holiday to Thailand costs from £849 per person, based on two people sharing. That covers 7, 10 or 12 nights, bed and breakfast and return flights from London. October 2026 is the cheapest departure currently on sale. Secure it with £99pp and pay the balance nearer the time. Every holiday we sell is ATOL 10713 protected.

What is this Thailand multi-centre holiday, and what does it cost?

It is Bangkok for the temples and the river, then a domestic flight south to Phuket for the beach, over seven, ten or twelve nights. Return flights from London, the domestic flight, 4★ hotels with daily breakfast and airport transfers are included. The advertised lead-in price is £849pp based on two sharing for seven nights, in October 2026 and May 2027; ten nights are £150pp more and twelve £250pp more, in every month. Your exact price depends on dates, availability, room category and any options you add. If you want a second beach, a three-stop route adds Krabi. It suits first-time visitors who want Bangkok and a proper beach stay on one booking. British passport holders need no visa for up to 30 days, and every booking is ATOL protected under licence 10713.

Why Bangkok first, then Phuket?

Because it puts the busy part first and the rest at the end. Bangkok is where you land, and your nights there cover the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun while you adjust to the time difference. Then one short domestic flight takes you to Phuket, and the rest of the holiday is the beach — which is the order most people want to come home from.

On ten nights the split is three in Bangkok and seven on Phuket, weighted to the beach on purpose: three nights is enough for Bangkok’s headline temples and the river, and seven on Phuket leaves room for a boat trip to Phi Phi or James Bond Island without the week feeling rushed. On seven or twelve nights, the split between the two is set with you and confirmed in writing before you pay.

How many nights should you choose?

Seven nights, from £849pp, is the short version and the lowest price: enough for Bangkok’s main temples and a first taste of Phuket. Ten nights, from £999pp, is the balanced one — three in Bangkok and seven on Phuket, a proper week on the beach for £150pp more than seven. Twelve nights, from £1,099pp, adds two more nights for £100pp more than ten, and suits anyone who wants the beach to feel unhurried or plans both boat trips. All three sit well inside Thailand’s 30-day visa exemption.

Should you add Krabi?

Add it if you want two different beaches. The three-stop route runs Bangkok, Phuket and Krabi over seven, ten or twelve nights, with all internal flights, at 4★ hotels: Rembrandt Hotel in Bangkok and Deevana Plaza Patong on Phuket, or similar, and the Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort in Krabi. It is priced for your dates, with the board basis confirmed in writing, before you pay. Even the twelve-night version sits well inside Thailand’s 30-day visa exemption.

Keep to Bangkok and Phuket if you would rather unpack once for the beach. One beach stay is simpler, and it is the route the advertised prices apply to.

How much does it cost?

The advertised lead-in price is £849pp based on two sharing, for seven nights in October 2026 or May 2027. For seven nights, April and June 2027 are £899pp; November 2026, March and September 2027 are £949pp; January and July 2027 are £999pp; February and August 2027 are £1,049pp; and December 2026 is the dearest, at £1,199pp.

Ten nights cost £150pp more than seven in every month, and twelve nights £250pp more. So ten nights run from £999pp in October and May to £1,349pp in December, and twelve from £1,099pp to £1,449pp. The longer stays are better value per night: at the lead-in prices, about £121 per person per night on seven nights, £100 on ten and £92 on twelve, with the international and domestic flights, the hotels, breakfast and transfers all inside it. What sits outside it: island excursions, lunches and dinners, and travel insurance.

What will you spend on top of the price?

Three things. Meals beyond breakfast, which is included every day. Boat trips from Phuket — Phi Phi and James Bond Island are the two most people want, and both are paid locally. And getting around: the included transfers run between the airports and your hotels, so moving between temples in Bangkok, or to beaches beyond your own on Phuket, is your own cost. Add travel insurance, which you should arrange when you book, and carry some baht for markets and smaller places alongside your cards.

When is the best time to go to Bangkok and Phuket?

Thailand is hot all year; what changes is the rain. These are official averages from the World Meteorological Organization, supplied by the Thai Meteorological Department — Bangkok for 1961–1990. The temperature barely moves: Bangkok’s average highs run from 31.3°C to 34.9°C across the year, and Phuket’s from 31.2°C to 33.8°C. Choose your month on the rain.

Month Bangkok rain days Phuket rain days Phuket rainfall 7 nights from
January 1 4.2 23.3mm £999pp
February 2 3.0 25.8mm £1,049pp
March 2 5.8 59.0mm £949pp
April 4 11.4 137.8mm £899pp
May 13 19.8 269.8mm £849pp
September 18 22.8 386.5mm £949pp
October 14 22.1 295.9mm £849pp
December 1 8.3 61.9mm £1,199pp

January to March is the window. Bangkok averages one or two rain days a month, and January and February are Phuket’s two driest months on both rain days and rainfall. March is the value pick, at £949pp for seven nights, with 5.8 rain days on Phuket.

The cheapest months are the wettest on Phuket. October and May are £849pp for seven nights, but Phuket averages 22.1 and 19.8 rain days in them. April, at £899pp for seven nights, is a reasonable compromise, and Bangkok’s hottest month, at 34.9°C. December is the dearest, at £1,199pp for seven nights; January is drier on Phuket and £200 less, at every length.

Who is this holiday for — and who should look elsewhere?

It suits first-time visitors who want Bangkok and a proper stay on the beach; couples and friends who want breakfast, flights and transfers arranged; and anyone travelling between January and March, when both halves are at their best.

It is less suited to anyone who wants to see northern Thailand — Chiang Mai is not on this route — or who wants meals included. If you would rather compare Thailand with its neighbours, our Thailand multi-centre guide sets out the options, and our Vietnam Discovery runs Hanoi to Saigon in nine nights.

How does it compare with other Asia holidays?

Holiday Nights Stops Beach stay Choose it if…
Bangkok & Phuket 7, 10 or 12 Bangkok, Phuket 7 nights on the 10-night stay You want a city and a beach stay
Bangkok, Phuket & Krabi 7, 10 or 12 Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi Two beaches You want two different beaches

What is Bangkok like?

You stay three nights at a 4★ hotel such as Centre Point Silom or similar, with breakfast. The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home of the reclining Buddha, sit side by side in the old city and make one day; Wat Arun, on the far bank of the Chao Phraya, and the river itself make the next.

What is Phuket like?

After Bangkok you fly to Phuket — on day four of the ten-night stay, for seven nights — and stay at a 4★ hotel in the Kata or Patong area, such as Novotel Phuket Vintage Park or similar, with breakfast. Tell your consultant which of the two you would prefer, and the hotel is matched to it. Boat trips to the Phi Phi Islands and to Phang Nga Bay for James Bond Island are optional and paid locally.

What do you need to know before you travel to Thailand?

  • Visa. None for tourism: GOV.UK says the exemption is 30 days, reduced from 60 on 15 September 2026.
  • Arrival card. A digital arrival card is required, completed online within the three days before arrival.
  • Passport. At least six months’ validity from arrival, and one blank page.
  • Proof of funds. You may be asked for 10,000 baht per person, or 20,000 per family, and onward travel.
  • Time. Thailand is seven hours ahead of the UK in winter and six during British Summer Time.

Entry rules are GOV.UK’s guidance, checked in September 2026. Check the latest official requirements before you travel, as they can change.

How do you book, and how are you protected?

Tell us your dates, how many nights you would like, your departure airport, who is travelling and if you would like to add Krabi, and your consultant will confirm a live price, the hotels and the payment schedule in writing before you commit. The package is protected under ATOL 10713, and you receive an ATOL Certificate setting out what is covered. ATOL protects the money you pay if a travel company fails; it is not travel insurance, which you should arrange separately. Frequently asked questions

The lead-in price is £849 per person, based on two sharing, for seven nights in Bangkok and Phuket, in October 2026 and May 2027. Ten nights are £150 more and twelve nights £250 more in every month, so ten nights start at £999 and twelve at £1,099. Return flights from London, the domestic flight, 4★ hotels with breakfast and airport transfers are included. December 2026 is the dearest month, at £1,199 for seven nights.

Return flights between London and Bangkok, a domestic flight from Bangkok to Phuket, seven, ten or twelve nights at 4★ hotels with daily breakfast, and airport transfers. On ten nights the split is three in Bangkok and seven on Phuket; on seven or twelve it is set with you. ATOL 10713 protection covers the package.

Island excursions such as Phi Phi or James Bond Island, lunches and dinners, and travel insurance are not included. Meals and boat trips are the two costs to budget for on top of the package price, and insurance should be arranged when you book.

Yes. The three-stop route adds Krabi to Bangkok and Phuket, over seven, ten or twelve nights, with all internal flights and 4★ hotels: Rembrandt Hotel in Bangkok and Deevana Plaza Patong on Phuket, or similar, and the Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort in Krabi. It is priced for your dates, and your board basis confirmed in writing, before you pay.

Thirty days for tourism. GOV.UK says the visa exemption for British passport holders was reduced from 60 days to 30 on 15 September 2026, so older advice online is now wrong. Even the twelve-night holiday sits comfortably inside the allowance. Check GOV.UK close to travel.

Yes. GOV.UK says every visitor must complete a digital arrival card online, within the three days before arrival. It is free and takes minutes — do it before you fly, not at the airport. You may also be asked to show proof of funds and onward travel on arrival.

GOV.UK says your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive, with at least one blank page. Check it before you book, because a passport that falls short can mean being refused boarding.

January to March. Official averages show Bangkok with one or two rain days a month from December to March, and January and February are Phuket’s two driest months on both rain days and rainfall. March, at £949 per person for seven nights, is the value pick of that window.

October 2026 and May 2027, both at £849 per person for seven nights, or £999 for ten. The trade-off is Phuket’s rain: it averages 22.1 rain days in October and 19.8 in May. April, at £899 for seven nights, is drier on Phuket, with 11.4 rain days, and is Bangkok’s hottest month, at 34.9°C.

December 2026, at £1,199 per person for seven nights. January 2027, at £999 for seven nights, is drier on Phuket — 4.2 rain days against 8.3 in December — and £200 less at every length, so it is better value if your dates are flexible.

Roughly May to October. Official averages show Phuket with around 19 to 23 rain days a month through that period, and September is its wettest month on both rain days and rainfall, at 22.8 days and 386.5mm. It stays warm, with average highs of 31.2°C to 32.5°C.

Hot all year. Official averages put Bangkok’s highs between 31.3°C and 34.9°C, peaking in April, and Phuket’s between 31.2°C and 33.8°C. What changes through the year is the rain, not the temperature, so choose your month on rainfall.

In Bangkok, a 4★ hotel such as Centre Point Silom, and on Phuket a 4★ hotel in the Kata or Patong area, such as Novotel Phuket Vintage Park — both or similar, with breakfast. Tell us if a particular hotel matters to you and we will price it directly.

Yes, every day on the Bangkok and Phuket holiday. Lunches and dinners are your own, which in Thailand is usually a pleasure rather than a cost worry — but budget for them alongside boat trips, which are the other extra.

By air. A domestic flight from Bangkok to Phuket is included — on day four of the ten-night stay — and airport transfers are included at both ends, so you are met rather than finding your own way.

No. Phi Phi and James Bond Island are optional boat trips from Phuket, paid locally and not part of the package price. A week on Phuket, as on the ten-night stay, leaves room for one or both, with beach days either side.

Ten suits most first visits: three nights covers Bangkok’s main temples and the river, and seven on Phuket gives a proper week on the beach, for £150 per person more than seven nights. Seven nights, from £849, is the shortest and cheapest. Twelve, from £1,099, adds two more nights for £100 more than ten. On seven or twelve, the split is set with you.

Thailand is seven hours ahead of the UK in winter and six hours ahead during British Summer Time, because Thailand does not change its clocks. The Bangkok nights come first, while you adjust, and the beach follows.

The Thai baht. GOV.UK says you may be asked on arrival for proof of funds of 10,000 baht per person or 20,000 per family, and onward travel. Carry some cash for markets and boat trips alongside your cards.

Flights depart from London. If you would like to fly from elsewhere in the UK, ask when you enquire and your consultant will price it; any difference is confirmed in writing before you book.

Yes. The package is protected under ATOL 10713, and you receive an ATOL Certificate setting out what is covered. ATOL protects the money you pay if a travel company fails; it is not travel insurance, which is not included and which you should arrange when you book.
