The experience

USA in detail

Quick answer

A holiday to the USA costs from £1,499 per person, based on two people sharing. That covers 7 nights and return flights from London. January 2027 is the cheapest departure currently on sale. Secure it with £99pp and pay the balance nearer the time. Every holiday we sell is ATOL 10713 protected.

What is a New York and Barbados twin centre, and what does it cost?

It is one trip split between Manhattan and the Caribbean: three nights in New York, then four in Barbados, connected by a flight of under five hours. The advertised lead-in price is £1,499pp based on two adults sharing, including return flights from London, a 4★ hotel in each destination and full ATOL protection under licence 10713. It holds with a £99pp deposit. Regional UK departures are available on request. Your exact price depends on dates, availability, room category and departure airport, and is confirmed at enquiry.

Why New York and Barbados work together

Barbados sits almost directly south of New York, and the flight between them is under five hours. That geography is the whole reason this pairing exists: you can spend three days in Manhattan and still be on a beach by lunchtime on day four, without the doubling back that ruins most city-and-beach combinations.

They also balance each other properly. New York is relentless — you walk fifteen thousand steps a day and eat standing up. Barbados is the opposite, and it is far more enjoyable after three days of noise than it would be as a standalone fortnight.

How many nights in each?

Three nights in New York and four in Barbados is the split the package is built around, and it is right for a first visit. Three nights gives you two full days in the city, which covers what you came for without the exhaustion that sets in around day four.

Four nights in Barbados is enough to stop rushing but not enough to get bored. We can extend the Barbados leg if you want longer on the beach — the flight schedule is flexible and the extra nights are usually the cheaper half of the trip.

New York and Barbados, or Barbados on its own?

Factor New York & Barbados Barbados only
Variety A world city and a Caribbean island One destination, fully unpacked
Beach time Four nights Seven nights
Pace Busy first half, slow second Slow throughout
Moving One hotel change and a five-hour flight None
Spending New York is where the budget goes Predictable, especially all-inclusive
Best for First visits, couples wanting two experiences Rest, families with young children

If the point of the holiday is to stop, go to Barbados alone. Want the Caribbean and a city in one set of flights? This is a neat way to get both.

How much does a New York and Barbados holiday cost?

The advertised lead-in price is £1,499pp based on two adults sharing, reduced from £1,920pp. It covers return flights from London, three nights at the Moxy NYC Times Square or similar 4★, four nights in Barbados, the New York to Bridgetown flight and full ATOL protection.

January is the lowest month. November is the cheaper and October the dearer. July and December are the highest, with August close behind.

This is a lead-in price, not a quote. New York is where the spending happens — Barbados is expensive by Caribbean standards but you will be at the hotel more, so budget the bulk of your money for the first three days.

What can change your final price?

  • Travel dates — the biggest factor. The package runs from January at its cheapest to July at its dearest and December.
  • Departure airport — the price shown is from London; regional departures are quoted at enquiry.
  • Room category — the lead-in is a standard room in both hotels.
  • Board basis — the package is room only; adding meals changes the price.
  • Which coast of Barbados — west coast hotels generally price higher than the south.
  • Extra nights — extending the Barbados half is usually the cheaper way to lengthen the trip.
  • Cabin — premium cabins on the transatlantic leg are quoted separately.
  • Transfers — not included as standard.

When is the best time to go?

Barbados decides it. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from 1 June to 30 November, and while Barbados sits far enough east that direct hits are uncommon, the late-summer months are wetter and more humid. December through May is the dry season and the reliable window.

That works for New York too. Spring and autumn are the city’s best months — walkable weather, long daylight, no August humidity and no January wind off the Hudson. Late April, May, October and early November give you both halves at their best.

January is the cheapest month here and is genuinely fine in Barbados. Just pack properly for New York, where it will be cold.

Where you will stay

The New York leg is based at the Moxy NYC Times Square or similar 4★ — central, walkable to the theatre district, close to the subway. Manhattan rooms are small at every price point; this is not the place to expect space.

The Barbados stay is on the west or south coast depending on availability and preference. The west coast around Holetown is calmer water and quieter. The south coast around St Lawrence Gap has more life in the evening and is better value.

Who this holiday suits

Couples and honeymooners. Good fit — the contrast between the two halves is the appeal, and finishing on a beach is the right order. Consideration: four nights is short for a honeymoon, so consider extending Barbados.

First-time visitors to New York. Good fit — three nights covers the headline sights without the fatigue of a longer city stay.

Travellers who want two experiences from one set of flights. Good fit — the geography makes this unusually efficient.

Families with older children. Good fit — New York holds teenagers’ attention and Barbados is easy. Consideration: the moving day mid-trip.

Who might prefer something else

Want a proper Caribbean fortnight? Drop New York and take seven nights in Barbados instead — our all-inclusive escape is built for exactly that.

If you are travelling with young children, three nights in Manhattan plus a five-hour flight is a lot of movement. A single-centre beach holiday will be easier.

For all-inclusive, the package is room only. Barbados is expensive once you leave the hotel, so an all-inclusive week may suit your budget better.

If your priority is New York, spend the whole trip there. Three nights is enough for a first visit but it is not enough to know the city.

Ways to upgrade

All quoted at enquiry against your dates.

  • A higher room category in either hotel
  • A west coast Barbados hotel rather than the south
  • Adding breakfast, half board or all-inclusive in Barbados
  • Premium economy or business class on the transatlantic leg
  • Private transfers at either end
  • Extra nights in Barbados, or swapping New York for Boston or Miami
  • Worth comparing against our 12 Nights USA & Caribbean Discovery – Miami, Orlando & Bahamas, which covers similar ground.

Getting there, and getting between them

London to New York is around 8 hours westbound, with JFK and Newark both served from all the London airports. New York to Bridgetown is a further 4 hours 40 to 5 hours 10, flown direct by American Airlines, JetBlue and Delta.

Flying west means you gain the day on the way out — a morning departure from London has you in Manhattan by early afternoon with the evening ahead. Coming home from Barbados is usually an overnight.

Entry requirements for UK travellers

The United States requires an ESTA under the Visa Waiver Programme, and it applies to transit passengers just as much as to anyone staying. Apply online before you travel. The fee is currently $40.27 and an approved ESTA lasts two years, covering stays of up to 90 days. The fee nearly doubled from $21 — if you are reusing an old ESTA, check it has not expired. Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay.

Barbados needs no visa for British passport holders, but you must complete an immigration and customs form online before you arrive, and you will need proof of an onward or return ticket. There is a departure tax of BBD$55 for passengers aged two and over, usually included in your ticket.

Always check the latest official entry requirements on GOV.UK before travelling.

Booking and protection

Fully ATOL protected under licence 10713 and held with a £99pp deposit, with the balance due before departure. One UK consultant handles the flights, both hotels and the inter-island sector.

The split is not fixed. More nights in Barbados, a different coast, a premium cabin — tell us what you want and we will price it. See our Barbados all-inclusive escape or browse other multi-centre holidays.

Frequently asked questions

The advertised lead-in price is £1,499pp based on two adults sharing, reduced from £1,920pp, covering return flights from London, three nights in New York, four in Barbados and ATOL protection. January is lowest; July and December peak.

It is a lead-in price rather than a quote. Your final figure depends on travel dates, availability, room category, board basis, departure airport and any options added. Your consultant confirms the exact price at enquiry.

Between 4 hours 40 and 5 hours 10 direct, flown by American Airlines, JetBlue and Delta. London to New York is around 8 hours before that, so the second leg feels short by comparison.

Yes. An ESTA is required for transit through the United States as well as for entry. It costs $40.27, lasts two years and covers stays up to 90 days. The fee nearly doubled from $21, so check any existing ESTA before relying on it.

No visa is required for British passport holders. You do need to complete an immigration and customs form online before arrival and show proof of an onward or return ticket. A departure tax of BBD$55 applies to passengers aged two and over.

Three nights in New York and four in Barbados, which is how the package is built. Three nights gives you two full days in the city before the pace becomes tiring, and four on the beach is enough to unwind. We can extend the Barbados half.

Choose the twin-centre if you want a world city and a Caribbean island from one set of flights. Choose Barbados alone for seven nights of beach, no hotel change and more predictable spending. If the point is to stop, go to Barbados alone.

Late April, May, October and early November give you both halves at their best — New York walkable and Barbados outside the wettest months. The Atlantic hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, though Barbados lies far enough east that direct hits are uncommon.

Either the west coast around Holetown, which is calmer and quieter, or the south coast around St Lawrence Gap, which has more going on in the evening and better value. Tell your consultant which you prefer and we will place you accordingly.

No, the package is room only. Adding breakfast, half board or all-inclusive in Barbados is possible and is quoted at enquiry. If an all-inclusive week is what you want, our seven-night Barbados escape is built that way.

Transfers are not included as standard but can be added at either end. Most south coast hotels are twenty to thirty minutes from Grantley Adams airport, and Manhattan transfers are straightforward from both JFK and Newark.

Yes. Prices shown are from London, and regional departures are available on request with the supplement confirmed at enquiry. Tell us your nearest airport when you get in touch.

Premium economy and business class on the transatlantic leg can both be quoted, and both are quoted at enquiry. Your consultant will check what is available for your dates and confirm the cost.

Yes, and it is the most common request on this itinerary. The flight schedule is flexible and the extra nights are usually the cheaper half of the trip, so extending Barbados costs less than extending New York.

For a first visit, yes. Three nights gives you two full days, which covers the headline sights without the fatigue that sets in around day four. If New York is your priority rather than the beach, spend the whole trip there instead.

It works well because the two halves do different jobs and you finish on a beach. Four nights is short for a honeymoon though, so most couples extend the Barbados leg. Tell your consultant it is a honeymoon and we will flag it with the hotels.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, but Barbados lies far enough east of the main track that direct hits are uncommon. September and October are the wettest months. December to May is the dry season.

Budget most of it for New York, where meals, drinks and attractions add up quickly. Barbados is expensive by Caribbean standards but you will spend more time at the hotel, so the daily spend is usually lower once you arrive.

Yes. The nights in each half, which coast of Barbados, the cabin and the hotels are all adjustable, and New York can be swapped for Boston or Miami. Tell your consultant what you have in mind and we will price it.

You can secure your booking with a £99pp deposit, with the balance payable before you travel. Booking early locks in the price shown and gives more choice of hotel and room type, particularly around Christmas and the summer peak.

Yes, under licence ATOL 10713, so your money is protected and you are covered if anything happens to the operator while you are away. We are also IATA accredited under number 91285611.

The ESTA for the United States, the Barbados online immigration form, airport and hotel transfers unless stated, travel insurance, meals beyond those listed, optional excursions, and regional UK departures which carry a supplement confirmed at enquiry.
