Multi-City Tours & Itineraries 2026/27

Ten multi-city itineraries with flights, from nine nights across Italy to a fortnight through the USA, Canada and the Caribbean. Hotels, internal flights and train connections are booked for you; you travel independently, at your own pace.

Quick answer

What is a multi-city tour, and how much does one cost from the UK?

These are multi-city itineraries where we book the flights, the hotels and the connections between them, and you travel independently rather than with a group. Prices start at £359 per person for nine nights across Italy and reach £2,149 for fourteen nights through the USA, Canada and the Caribbean. European routes are cheapest in January; the Asian ones are cheapest in June.

Are these escorted tours?

No, and it matters enough to say before anything else.

There is no tour manager, no group and no coach. What we book is the structure: your flights out and back, every hotel, and the connections between each stop — high-speed trains across Italy and Spain, internal flights across North America, private transport in Sri Lanka. You then travel through the itinerary independently, at whatever pace suits you.

That suits people who want the logistics of a multi-stop trip handled without being put on a timetable with thirty strangers. It does not suit anyone who wants a guide explaining what they are looking at, or the company of a group. If that is what you are after, these are the wrong holidays and we would rather tell you now.

The itineraries below are the routes we run most often. Every one can be reshaped — different cities, different nights in each, a different order — because the underlying product is tailor-made.

What does each itinerary cost?

All ten, cheapest first. Prices are per person and include return flights from London, your hotels, and the internal flights or train connections between stops. Regional UK departures are available on every one at a supplement confirmed when you enquire.

Europe, from £359pp

Asia, from £1,149pp

Sri Lanka — Kandy, Ella & Bentota£1,149pp6, 8 or 10Two nights Kandy, two Ella, the rest on the coast at Bentota, private transport throughout
Vietnam & Cambodia£1,299pp10, 12 or 14Two countries on one booking, including Siem Reap for Angkor

North America, from £1,199pp

ItineraryFromNightsWhat is booked
New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco & Los Angeles£1,199pp8Two nights in each city and three domestic flights; the Grand Canyon is an optional day trip
New York, Toronto & Niagara Falls£1,349pp10Four nights New York, four Toronto, two at Niagara, internal flight included
New York, Toronto & Jamaica£2,149pp14Four nights New York, three Toronto, seven all-inclusive in Jamaica

The last of those is also on the all-inclusive hub, because half its nights are. Shorter two- and three-stop trips, where each place gets a longer stay, are on the multi-centre holidays hub.

When is a multi-city tour cheapest?

The two regions run on opposite calendars, and one of these is the widest price spread on the whole site.

European itineraries are cheapest in January and dearest in July. The Italy Grand Explorer is £359pp in January against £599pp in July — nine nights, the same route, and no package we sell moves further between its best and worst month. Ultimate Italy runs £799pp to £969pp, Grand Europe Capitals £1,049pp to £1,339pp, Ultimate Europe Explorer £1,499pp to £1,749pp, and the Spanish route £709pp to £839pp.

January is also, for this particular kind of holiday, a genuinely good month. You are moving between cities and spending your days in galleries, churches and cafés rather than lying on a beach. Rome, Florence and Prague in January are cold, quiet and close to empty — the queues that define them in July simply are not there.

The Asian itineraries are cheapest in June and dearest in December. Sri Lanka is £1,149pp against £1,449pp, Vietnam and Cambodia £1,299pp against £1,649pp. June falls before the European school holidays and long before the Christmas long-haul rush.

How many nights does a multi-city trip need?

The arithmetic that matters is nights per stop, not nights in total.

Two nights per city is the floor. Below that you arrive, sleep, and leave — you have visited the hotel rather than the city. Ultimate Italy gives twelve nights across four cities, and the Spanish route seven across three, which is why both work.

Rail routes need fewer nights than flight routes. A train between Rome and Florence costs you a morning; a flight between New York and Toronto costs the best part of a day once you add the airport at both ends. That is why the European itineraries here run seven to twelve nights while the North American ones run eight to fourteen, and the four-city USA route fits into eight only by giving each city two nights.

Nine nights is the practical minimum for a European grand tour covering four or five countries, and twelve is more comfortable. The Grand Europe Capitals route at nine nights from £1,049pp is brisk by design; the Ultimate Europe Explorer at twelve from £1,499pp gives each stop room to breathe.

Which itinerary should you choose?

If it is your first multi-city trip

Ultimate Italy at £799pp for twelve nights, or the Spanish route at £709pp for seven. Both move by high-speed train, both are in one country, and neither involves an airport between stops. If the format turns out not to suit you, you have found that out on a short European trip rather than halfway across Asia.

If the budget is the constraint

The Italy Grand Explorer at £359pp for nine nights in January. It is the cheapest itinerary we run by a wide margin, and January is the month that makes it so. If nine nights is more than you want, the same cities run as short city breaks instead.

If you want to cover the most ground

The Ultimate Europe Explorer at £1,499pp for twelve nights, or Grand Europe Capitals at £1,049pp for nine. Both are built around whichever capitals you want rather than a fixed list.

If you want somewhere genuinely unfamiliar

Vietnam and Cambodia at £1,299pp, or Sri Lanka at £1,149pp. Both are the kind of trip where having the hotels and transport already arranged removes most of what makes independent travel there hard work.

If you want a tour that ends on a beach

New York, Toronto and Jamaica at £2,149pp for fourteen nights — a week of cities, then seven nights all-inclusive. It is the only itinerary here that stops moving.

If you are going for the landscape rather than the cities

New York, Toronto and Niagara Falls at £1,349pp builds a genuine natural set-piece into a city itinerary. On the four-city USA route at £1,199pp, the Grand Canyon is an optional day trip from Las Vegas.

What changes the price of a multi-city tour?

  • The month, by more than on any other kind of holiday we sell. The Italy Grand Explorer swings from £359pp to £599pp. If your dates move, nothing else you decide will save you as much.
  • Rail or air between stops. European routes connected by train cost less and waste less of the holiday than routes needing internal flights.
  • Number of stops. Each additional city adds a hotel, a connection and usually two nights.
  • Nights. Sri Lanka is sold at six, eight or ten nights and Vietnam and Cambodia at ten, twelve or fourteen. The headline price is the shortest option.
  • Departure airport. Every price is from London. Regional departures carry a supplement we confirm at enquiry rather than estimate here.

What paperwork do you need?

Checked against GOV.UK foreign travel advice on 17 September 2026. Rules change, and we re-confirm yours before you travel. A multi-country itinerary means several sets of rules on one trip, which is the single most common thing people get caught out by.

  • Italy, Spain and the European capitals: Schengen. No visa, 90 days in any 180. Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years of your arrival date and be valid three months past departure — the 10-year rule catches out anyone who renewed early before October 2018. The biometric Entry/Exit System is rolling out, so allow extra time at your first crossing. ETIAS is not required.
  • Sri Lanka: an Electronic Travel Authorization must be obtained online before you travel. It is issued free of charge and valid 30 days, so treat any site charging you for one accordingly. Passport valid six months past arrival. No visa is needed for an air transit under 24 hours.
  • Vietnam: no visa for stays up to 45 days. Passport valid six months with two blank pages and no damage. If you need longer and apply for an e-visa, note that an e-visa ties you to the entry and exit points you choose on the application — which matters on a two-country itinerary where you may leave by a different route than you arrived.
  • Cambodia: a visa is required, valid 30 days from entry. Apply for an e-visa at least four days ahead, or get one on arrival at airports and land crossings — bring a photo and US dollars to pay with. An electronic e-Arrival Card is mandatory within seven days before you arrive by air, and it is free.
  • USA: ESTA required before you fly, $40.27, valid two years. It applies to transit as well as entry.
  • Canada: an eTA is required for air arrivals but not if you arrive by land or sea from the USA. On the New York to Toronto routes that is worth checking against how you are actually travelling.
  • Jamaica: no visa, usually 90 days. Passport valid for the duration of your stay with two blank pages. The Immigration and Customs Form C5 must be completed online before arrival, and it is mandatory.

Who multi-city itineraries suit

  • Travellers who would rather see four places than one, and do not mind packing four times to do it.
  • Anyone who wants the logistics of a complex trip handled but not the company of a group.
  • First-time visitors to a region who want the highlights without researching every train and hotel themselves.
  • People going somewhere far enough that they may not return, and want to make it count.
  • Anyone who finds a week in one hotel too long.

Who might prefer something else

  • If you want a guide and a group, these are not that. We book the structure and leave you to it. An escorted tour operator is the right call.
  • If you want to unpack once, this is the wrong format entirely. A beach holiday or a single-city stay will suit you far better.
  • If you are travelling with young children, moving every two or three nights is hard work for everyone. Two stops rather than four is usually the compromise — see the multi-centre trips.
  • If mobility is a concern, changing hotels repeatedly, handling luggage on trains and covering cities on foot all add up. Tell us before we book and we will shape the route around it.
  • If you only have a week, four cities in seven nights is not a holiday. Three stops is the realistic maximum, which is what the Spanish route does.

How we book it

Every itinerary here is ATOL 10713 protected and we hold IATA accreditation 91285611. All ten are held with a deposit of £99 per person, with the balance due before travel.

Because the whole route sits on one booking, a delayed flight or a missed connection is ours to re-arrange rather than something you sort out at a foreign station. That is the practical case for buying a multi-city trip as a package instead of assembling it yourself, and it is worth more on a four-stop itinerary than on any other kind of holiday.

Prices here are the ones we hold today, shown in full on the page, per person. January and June dates — the cheapest across both regions — are the first to go.

Good to know

Tour FAQs

No. There is no tour manager, no group and no coach. We book your flights, every hotel and the connections between stops — trains across Italy and Spain, internal flights in North America, private transport in Sri Lanka — and you travel through the itinerary independently at your own pace. If you want a guide and a group, an escorted tour operator is the right choice.

Itineraries here start at £359 per person for nine nights across Italy and £709 for seven nights through Madrid, Seville and Barcelona. Longer routes run £1,049 for nine nights across the European capitals and £1,499 for twelve. The most expensive is fourteen nights through New York, Toronto and Jamaica at £2,149. All include flights and connections.

The Italy Grand Explorer at £359 per person for nine nights, which is the January price. It is the cheapest itinerary we run by a wide margin, and nine nights across Italy for that figure is less than several of our four-night city breaks in high summer.

January for the European routes and June for the Asian ones. The Italy Grand Explorer is £359 per person in January against £599 in July — the widest spread of any package we sell. Sri Lanka is £1,149 in June against £1,449 in December, and Vietnam and Cambodia £1,299 against £1,649.

Genuinely, yes, and not only because it is cheapest. You spend these trips in galleries, churches and cafés rather than on a beach. Rome, Florence and Prague in January are cold and close to empty, and the queues that define them in July are simply not there. Pack properly and it is the better experience as well as the cheaper one.

Two nights per stop is the floor — below that you have visited the hotel rather than the city. Nine nights is the practical minimum for a European grand tour across four or five countries, and twelve is more comfortable. Rail routes need fewer nights than flight routes, because a train costs you a morning and a flight costs most of a day.

Yes. These are the routes we run most often rather than fixed departures, and the underlying product is tailor-made. Tell us which cities you want, how long in each and in what order, and we will price that against your dates rather than apply a standard supplement.

On the European routes, yes. The Ultimate Italy itinerary includes all train connections between its four cities, and the Madrid, Seville and Barcelona route includes the high-speed trains. North American routes use internal flights instead, and the Sri Lanka itinerary includes private transport throughout.

On some. The Ultimate Italy and the Madrid, Seville and Barcelona itineraries both include daily breakfast. Most of the others are room only, and the Jamaica leg of the fourteen-night North American route is all-inclusive. Each package page states exactly what applies to each stop.

Ultimate Italy at £799 per person for twelve nights, or Madrid, Seville and Barcelona at £709 for seven. Both stay within one country and move by high-speed train, so there is no airport between stops. If the format does not suit you, you have found out on a short European trip.

Not for stays up to 45 days, which covers every itinerary here. Your passport must be valid six months past arrival with two blank pages and no damage. If you extend beyond 45 days and apply for an e-visa, be aware it ties you to the entry and exit points you select on the application.

Yes. A tourist visa is required, valid 30 days from entry. Apply for an e-visa at least four days in advance, or get one on arrival at airports and land crossings — you will need a photo and US dollars to pay. An electronic e-Arrival Card is also mandatory within seven days before you arrive by air, and that one is free.

You need an Electronic Travel Authorization, applied for online before you travel. It is issued free of charge and valid for 30 days, so any website asking you to pay for one is not the official route. Your passport must be valid six months past arrival. Air transits under 24 hours need nothing at all.

For air arrivals into Canada, yes. It is not required if you arrive by land or sea from the USA, which is worth checking against how you are actually travelling on the New York to Toronto routes. The USA leg needs an ESTA separately, at $40.27, and that applies to transit as well as entry.

The Ultimate Europe Explorer at £1,499 per person for twelve nights, and the Grand Europe Capitals route at £1,049 for nine. Both are built around whichever capitals you want rather than a fixed list, so the number of countries is genuinely up to you and your appetite for packing.

New York, Toronto and Jamaica at £2,149 per person for fourteen nights. Four nights in New York, three in Toronto, then seven all-inclusive in Jamaica. It is the only itinerary here that stops moving, and the only one where half the nights are on one spot.

Changing hotels every two or three nights is hard work with young children, and most of these routes do exactly that. Two stops rather than four is usually the right compromise, which is what our multi-centre holidays do. For older children, the North American routes add a natural set-piece to the cities — Niagara Falls, or an optional Grand Canyon day trip.

It is ours to re-arrange rather than yours. Because the whole route sits on one booking, we rebook the connection and move the onward hotel instead of leaving you negotiating at a foreign station. On a four-stop itinerary that is worth considerably more than it is on a single-destination holiday.

Yes, on every itinerary. All prices are quoted from London because that is where the contracted fares sit. Regional departures carry a supplement that varies by airport, airline and date, so we confirm the exact figure for your dates rather than publish an estimate that may be wrong.

All ten itineraries use 4★ hotels as standard, at every stop, with the named property for each leg on its own package page and described as that hotel or similar. Upgrades, more central locations and larger rooms are quoted individually against your dates.

All ten itineraries are held with £99 per person, with the balance due before travel. Every one is ATOL 10713 protected and we hold IATA accreditation 91285611. The price includes return flights, hotels and the connections between your stops.

Earlier than for a single-destination holiday, because several flight or train legs have to line up rather than one. January and June — the cheapest months across the two regions — are also the first to sell, so leaving it late usually means paying a higher month as well as a later price.

Not necessarily. Nine nights across Italy from £359 per person is less than five nights in Gran Canaria in August. What adds cost is the number of connections and the total nights, rather than the idea of moving between places, and train-connected European routes are the cheapest way to do it.

Length of stay per stop. A multi-centre trip gives each place several nights — typically three to seven — so it feels like two or three holidays. These itineraries move more often, usually two nights per city, and cover more ground. Both sit on one booking with the connections included.

Yes, and it is what we do most. The ten routes on this page are simply the ones we are asked for most often. Tell us the cities or the region, roughly how long you have and what you want to see, and we will build and price a route around that rather than fit you to one of these.
