A holiday to Cologne & Düsseldorf costs from £399 per person, based on two people sharing. That covers 4 nights and return flights from London. November 2026 is the cheapest departure currently on sale. Every holiday we sell is ATOL 10713 protected.
4 nights in Cologne and Düsseldorf from £399 per person, covering return flights from London, Maritim Hotel Köln & a comparable Düsseldorf hotel or similar (4★), cabin baggage and full ATOL 10713 protection. Regional UK departures are available at a supplement we confirm rather than estimate.
Cologne and Düsseldorf are twenty minutes apart by train, which is why this works as one trip rather than two. Cologne brings the cathedral markets; Düsseldorf brings themed old-town squares and the row of bars it calls the longest bar in the world.
After dark the draw is Cologne Cathedral and the Rhine promenade lit for the season. Eat Glühwein, reibekuchen and Altbier while you walk it.
| Month | From |
|---|---|
| November 2026 | £399pp |
| December 2026 | £399pp |
Both months are held at the same lead-in price, so the month is not the lever here that it is on a summer holiday. What moves the figure is the day of the week and how close to Christmas you travel — midweek and earlier in the season cost less and are markedly less crowded.
Market seasons vary by city and are set locally each year. We check that the Cologne and Düsseldorf markets are running for your exact dates before anything is booked, so you are never guessing from a web page.
Four nights, which is what this break is built around: enough for two full evenings at the markets and a day for Cologne and Düsseldorf themselves — two Rhine cities, twenty minutes apart. If you want it longer or shorter, say so and we will price it.
Everything outside that list is an optional extra rather than an oversight, and the questions below set out what each one costs and what is not covered.
Arrive from London and check in. With the afternoon or evening free, take a first walk to Cologne’s cathedral plaza and Düsseldorf’s Altstadt as the lights come on.
A full day for Cologne — its Christmas market, its old town and Cologne Cathedral and the Rhine promenade. Time to shop, eat and soak up the atmosphere.
A short connection to Düsseldorf, then the rest of the day to settle in and find its main square after dark.
A full day in Düsseldorf — a different city, a different festive character, and a last evening of markets and mulled wine.
A final morning at leisure before your transfer to the airport and flight home.

November 2026 and December 2026 are on sale, from £399 per person. Market seasons are set locally each year, so we check the dates you want are actually running before anything is booked.
Barely, on this break — the months on sale are held at the same lead-in fare. What moves the figure is the day of the week and how close to Christmas you travel. Midweek and earlier in the season is cheaper and noticeably less crowded.

Return flights from London (regional UK airports available at a supplement), 4 nights at Maritim Hotel Köln & a comparable Düsseldorf hotel or similar (4★), Cabin baggage per person, The connection between the two cities and ATOL 10713 financial protection and a dedicated UK consultant.
Airport transfers, hold luggage and seat selection are optional extras, as is travel insurance, which you need to arrange separately. Meals are not included — the room is booked room only — and neither is market spending. Local city or tourist taxes are payable at the hotel.
Maritim Hotel Köln & a comparable Düsseldorf hotel or similar (4★). Where a package says "or similar" we confirm the actual property in writing before you pay. If you want a specific hotel or a particular district, tell us and we will price it.
London is the priced departure. We can fly you from most UK regional airports instead; that carries a supplement, and we quote the real figure rather than an estimate once you tell us where you want to leave from.
No. British passport holders can visit the Schengen area, which includes Germany, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years of the date you arrive and be valid for at least three months after you leave. Always check the latest official entry requirements on GOV.UK before travelling.
It is the biometric system replacing the passport stamp: fingerprints and a photograph recorded at the border instead. Budget a little extra time at passport control on your first trip under it.
The euro. Cards work almost everywhere, but a good number of market stalls — especially food and mulled wine — take cash only, and many charge a small refundable deposit on the mug. Carry some notes.
Glühwein, reibekuchen and Altbier. Prices at the stalls are set locally and are not part of the package, so budget for food, drink and anything you buy on top of the holiday price.

Yes, with two caveats that apply anywhere at this time of year: the markets is busiest after dark and on the weekends closest to Christmas, and it is cold. Tell us the ages travelling and we will price the right room configuration rather than assume two adults.
Book early. There is no late-availability market for December city breaks — the seats that are left are the expensive ones, and the good hotels have gone.
Yes. Flights and hotel are sold together as a package under our ATOL licence 10713, and you receive an ATOL Certificate setting out what is covered. We also hold IATA accreditation 91285611. That is financial protection if a supplier fails; it is not travel insurance. Tell us your dates and departure airport, we confirm a live price, and once you are happy we hold the booking and set out the payment dates in writing.
